The Municipality of Leamington will be undertaking a road reconstruction and traffic calming project on Robson Road, from Erie Street South to Cherry Lane.

Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 10, 2025 (weather permitting) and is expected to take approximately two months to complete.

This project is part of ongoing enhancements to Leamington’s waterfront area and an initiative of the Waterfront Destination Master Plan.

The project includes:

  • Additional parking along Robson Road
  • Permanent traffic calming measures
  • New active transportation facilities designed for users of all ages and abilities

Traffic Impacts:

  • Road Closure: Robson Road, between Erie Street South and Cherry Lane, will be limited to local traffic only during construction.
  • Daily Reopening: Crews will aim to reopen Robson Road at the end of each workday when possible. However, access may remain restricted depending on construction progress.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to enhance Leamington’s waterfront and improve local infrastructure.

February was a consequential month in Hamilton and Ontario and Canada with a provincial election campaign, some of the worst winter weather seen in years and major tariff turmoil from the Trump government south of the border. Ontario voters were more apt to see Premier Ford on American cable networks than domestic TV as he lobbied US officials to urge trump to drop the crippling tariffs he is proposing against Canada. The tariff crisis also provided an opportunity for Prime Minister Trudeau and some of his senior ministers to burnish their images as this government prepared to take on new leadership and a likely election. Trudeau, Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly and Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc all showed firmness and resolve in their various appearance on US networks as well.

Some of these issues were brought back to a local Hamilton perspective, as Bay Observer publisher John Best was a guest on the popular Cable 14 show, Hammer Down, hosted by veteran broadcasters Jason Farr and Mike Naburrs.
